Standing alone

Coaching objective:

Jane is a successful leader and is being considered to move to the next level in the organisation. The feedback from an assessment panel has identified the need to work on her ability to "stand alone" and "voice her opinion". She is avoiding situations where she may criticise others (or at least  situations perceived as such) as well as receive constructive feedback. Jane is very self aware after years of effective personal development;

However she had never been able to change this aspect of her behaviour until now.

 

Coaching process:

Following an initial session and some pre-work, we spend a whole day in 1-1 Intensive coaching .

In the morning, we get to the root cause and identify the limiting decision that is causing her difficulty to express herself and stand up for her opinion.

In the afternoon, we work through a number of interventions that help connect  the unconscious  and the conscious minds, releasing old limiting beliefs.

By the end of the day, she has a plan to practice her new chosen behaviours based on empowering beliefs.

We then follow up with 2-hours sessions to embed the change as well as support her after she is promoted in a new job.

 

Coaching impact:

After the Intensive, Jane is surprised that she does not feel any apprehension about confronting colleagues and stakeholders with some difficult messages.

Back to work, she rapidly plans some critical conversations and is able to stand up for her opinion. She finds it actually rather easy to have these conversations, while she would have avoided them at all costs beforehand.

She is able to express with clarity what she stands for as a leader.

 

Why the Intensive worked with Jane?

Jane is very self aware and curious about herself. The problem that holds her back is clearly identified. She wants to make the right choice for her career and is honest with herself . She is ready to embrace change and has no benefit to hold on old beliefs and behaviours that are limiting her.

 

Jane's perspective:

"In peer and senior management relationships, I have always found difficult to share my opinion and confront others as if it was actually criticizing them. To remove this blocker, I chose to work with Nathalie as she is very experienced and I have a lot of trust in her.

I was amazed by the results of the Intensive session. First we identified the situation in my childhood, which was bringing exactly the same negative feeling now in my professional life. The next step, which I am super happy about, was actually resetting my belief and the related feelings with it.

I am now able to confront others without "not feeling good enough" to share my opinions and doubts.

It is now actually difficult for me to imagine that I have ever shied away from it."
